Don’t Believe the Hype.

Just FYI…

It is widely reported and shown on YouTube videos that packaged bees are docile and unlikely to sting since they are effectively a swarm with no home to protect.

Well, someone forgot to send that memo to two of the girls this last weekend, who decided to sting me on my hands.   I had decided to be the cool beekeeper who did not need gloves when installing packages.  It did not hurt but one of them itched for five days.  Oh well, at least I tested a theory and found out that the word “unlikely” does not rule out that one or two bees have a different idea about their responsibilities.

I picked up my two new packages of bees yesterday in Baxley, Georgia. I installed them this morning. Delta hive and Echo hive.
